Supporting Our Local Economy: Featured WS Etsy Sellers
Posted on February 9, 2010 by Caroline Hallemann
Local blogger Lucy Cash of “Life in the Forsyth” has recently turned me on to a few local artists who sell their works on the online marketplace, Etsy. While I did a post on the site in the fall, I neglected to acknowledge that there are crafters right here in The Dash who make and sell goods through the community. After perusing the links on Cash’s blog, I did a quick search for local artisans and was able to find over 70 users who call Winston-Salem their home. I’ve scanned their “shops,” and here is a selection of my favorites– Feel free to shop without regrets-not only will you purchasing unique items at fair prices, but you’ll also be supporting our local economy!
The winter weather we’ve been having lately is causing me to seriously consider investing in one of these comfy scarves.
Wake Forest Junior Anna Dillard has a shop selling beaded wire rings at affordable prices– Support one of our school’s own entrepreneurs!
Isn’t this bracelet made of scrap silver cool? I’ve never seen anything like it!
This little guy hails from Greensboro. I’m sure we all know one extreme Screamin’ Demon who’d love to have a WFU gnome.
Guys–need a last minute Valentine’s gift without breaking the bank? Say I Love You with this cutie or these sweet cards.
This vintage beaded necklace is a classic without the price tag of pearls.
Okay, okay so this one doesn’t come from a local artist, but take a look at this postcard–Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m fairly sure that’s the an image of the courthouse that would become the Millennium Center:

Happy Shopping!

The current Millennium Center was at one time the downtown post office, never a courthouse.
